Civil Society and Philanthropy Take a Lead in Confronting Crime and Violence in Arab Society

Escalating gun violence remains a persistent threat in Arab communities. Over the past two years, a unique funding collaborative has been working to strengthen civil society–led interventions to reduce crime and violence and strengthen community resilience. What began as a participatory learning process has evolved into a multi-sector community, connecting civil society organizations, government professionals, academia, and philanthropy. Together, they are developing coordinated strategies, and building the infrastructure and leadership required for sustainable, community-based solutions.

In this recording from January 21, we share the collaborative’s key achievements, lessons learned, and the areas it has identified for action moving forward.

The discussion also prompted questions about the collaborative’s structure and approach, as well as pathways for funder engagement. A synthesis of responses is available here.
